Setting the table: The case for inclusion in the world language classroom
Discussions of inclusive teaching practice have often overlooked or outright ignored world languages. While many outside the profession believe that world language study is ‘best-suited’ for the ‘academic elite,’ research shows that there is no cognitive barrier to multilingualism. During this keynote and two follow-up workshops, explore inclusive approaches that provide necessary accommodations and support students with diverse learning needs. Learn how these approaches reflect best practices in world language teaching and become a more informed, effective, and thoughtfully- inclusive educator!

More than 25 special professional development workshops are planned. Workshops offer extended opportunities to focus on a central topic under the guidance of expert, nationally-recognized presenters. Pre-registration is required and additional fees apply.
Half-day workshops last 3 hours and cost $65.
Full-day workshops last 6 hours and cost $95.
Conference - Extension Workshop
Thursday, March 12 — 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
The Delegate Assembly offers sustained opportunities for collaboration among representatives of our 14 states. This year’s presenter – Dr. Ali Moeller – will address ways to Make Room for All at the Table. Follow-up discussion will focus on inclusion and other topics that are pertinent to our region, state language associations, and school districts. Up to four delegates from each state may preregister.

Strong leadership is a quality that every organization needs in order to thrive. This workshop, presented by CSCTFL Board members and recent ACTFL Leadership Initiative for Language Learning (LILL) participants, is designed to help participants analyze their leadership style and hone their leadership skills. It is offered free of charge but participants must be sponsored by a state or other language association, apply in advance, register for the conference, and pay conference registration fees. Self-nominations may also be accepted.
