Can-Do Learning: Developing Communication with Language and Culture

What do learners need to demonstrate consistently over time to show their improving Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational Communication? What are the indicators of increasing Intercultural Communication? Unwrap the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements and the Can-Do Statements for Intercultural Communication to create the blueprint for effective language learning and developing intercultural competence. Apply Can-Do Statements to design effective instruction and assessment.

Benefits to participants

  • Learn from nationally-recognized experts
  • After the workshop, receive materials and training from workshop presenters via videoconference to enable you to organize, publicize, and present a related Extension Workshop in your area
  • Receive reimbursement of the $95 workshop fee plus a $50 honorarium after presenting your Extension Workshop
  • Network with other foreign language educators throughout the CSCTFL region
  • Serve as a resource person in your foreign language community


  • All CSCTFL attendees may apply
  • Participation is limited and priority will be given to applicants who are selected to attend by their state foreign/world language organization

To apply

  • Submit the Extension Workshop application by January 15, 2019. This application is in addition to registering for the featured conference workshop and the CSCTFL Conference.
  • Register for the CSCTFL Conference at csctfl.org
  • Register for the workshop Can-Do Learning: Developing Communication with Language and Culture at csctfl.org
