Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages

Purpose. The CSCTFL Advisory Council serves with the Board of Directors as the corporation’s governing body. Members of the Advisory Council elect representatives to the Board of Directors and the group gathers annually at the conference for an evening reception and short business meeting.

Membership. There are two types of membership in the CSCTFL Advisory Council: individual memberships and state memberships. Links to create or renew your membership are included at the bottom of this page.

An individual membership in the CSCTFL Advisory Council includes:

  • a free conference registration,
  • an invitation to the annual reception and business meeting,
  • the right to nominate candidates for the Board of Directors and to vote in that election and
  • opportunities to apply for scholarships, preside at workshops, and serve on committees that promote CSCTFL’s goals and objectives and advance the profession.

A state membership in the CSCTFL Advisory Council includes all of the above privileges and also allows state organizations to nominate:

  • a Teacher of the Year candidate to CSCTFL;
  • up to four participants to the CSCTFL Delegate Assembly;
  • up to two participants to the free CSCTFL Leadership Development Workshop;
  • up to two participants to the CSCTFL Conference/Extension Workshop.

Teachers who work in states whose organizations hold an Advisory Council membership may also individually apply for a CSCTFL 50th Anniversary Grant.


  • The person who is designated as the state representative is automatically granted membership in the Advisory Council and does not need to hold a second, separate individual membership.
  • State membership forms must be completed by an official representative of the state organization.

2019-2020 Membership Fees

Individuals and states may join the Advisory Council as Benefactors, Patrons, or Sponsors. Fees for each type of membership during each renewal period are shown below.

  • Membership is valid for one fiscal (academic) year (July 1 – June 30) regardless of the date on which the state or individual joins the Advisory Council.
  • Non-refundable payment may be made by MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express.
  • Purchase orders are not accepted.
